  • Patrik Antonius

Today let’s talk about Patrik Antonius, another professional you can see on a Full Tilt Poker download. Antonius was born in 1980 in Finland where he worked as both a tennis coach and model before he started earning huge profits on a Full Tilt Poker download. His current residence is in Monte Carlo with his wife and daughter, and they are expecting a second child later this year.

Antonius started playing poker with his friends just as a hobby, but he eventually deposited into online rooms. In 2002 he started playing professionally, and that’s when he moved to Las Vegas. In Vegas he sat in several US poker rooms including the Bellagio where he sat in the Big Game. While he played in the WSOP using a satellite ticket he won, he did not win a title. Since then he has cashed several WSOP events, but he still does not have a bracelet.

Antonius started making a name for himself in live tournament poker in 2005. He first played in casinos for US players, making the money in a couple WPT tournaments and then profiting in three WSOP events. Later on that year he went on to cash another WPT tournament, earning 2nd place for $1 million in the WPT Five Diamond Classic. He continued his tournament tear in Europe. He finished 3rd in the big event in Barcelona and then took 1st in the Baden Classic for $340k.

Since his breakout year in 2005, Antonius has continued to excel. His total live winnings add up to around $3 million. Unlike several well known pros, however, he’d rather play online than live. He is frequently seen playing nosebleed ring games on money poker sites, often preferring heads-up NL Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha. He reportedly won $9 million+ via online casino USA in 2009! He is also the first to play versus Tom Dwan in his Million Dollar Challenge.

Antonius doesn’t limit his betting to the poker table as he enjoys betting on sports and gambling on golf games. He has also lost millions to fellow poker players by staking them in tournaments. That’s a lot of money! All this extra curricular gambling really makes me wonder if he’s tried free bet sportsbooks during his quiet moments away from the felt. He has more in common with Phil Ivey than I thought!

Playing at Full Tilt gives you the chance to compete with Antonius. Since he prefers cash over tournaments, you should try to find him in high stakes ring games. Good luck!
